What is Subclass 491 visa?

The Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) is a points-based skilled visa that allows you to live and work in regional Australia for up to 5 years. It is one of the most popular pathways to Permanent Residency (PR).

Which occupations can apply?

Your occupation must be listed under: Migration (LIN 19/051: Specification of Occupations and Relevant Assessing Authorities) Instrument 2019

This determines:

1. MLTSSL (Medium and Long‑term Strategic Skills List) 212 occupations

Examples:

2. STSOL (Short‑term Skilled Occupation Lis) 215 occupations

Examples:

  • Massage therapist 
  • Hairdresser
  • Pharmacy technician 
  • Interpreter

3. ROL (Regional Occupation List) 77 occupations

Examples:

  • Project builder
  • Sports administrator

  • Real estate representative
